Still Here, Still Eating Cheese

Now I am posting for the sake of posting. Is that worse than not posting at all? Doesn't really matter, does it?

Perhaps I should act on my floppy plans to go to the gym every other day during lunch. If not for my health, then to take a break from lunch room chat. Sometimes its interesting to talk about food, but sometimes it bores me cross-eyed. "I rilly like chocolate." "Yeah? Me too!" I guess it all boils down to the quality of the conversation, not the subject. Just thought I'd share than gem.

Last night, I started to knit a hat for my friend's new baby. It's been a real pain in the ass (the hat, not the baby). I watched a show about Audobon it was okay. I also ate a good amount of cheese knowing that it would upset my system. Surprise.

Addendum: 7/31/2007

If I'm going to gripe about cheese in public, I suppose I owe it to my vast audience to go into the unseemly details.

All right, here's my cheese problem. Dairy foods seem to make a certain time of the month more unpleasant, as do the crispy crackers and crusty baguettes that go so well with cheese.

If you really want to know more, check this out.

On the Butter Knife Edge of Culture

I just finished reading The Namesake. I got it for fifty cents at a porch sale and it was money well spent. When I was visiting Mom last week I recommended the novel to her, only to learn that she had read it already. Mom is way ahead of me when it comes to contemporary books and movies.

After reading a good book, I get the urge to start describing things, to attempt to capture an experience in words, but the urge quickly dies. Describe things? For who? For those with limited powers of perception? For posterity? For the hell of it is the only reason that seems to hold any weight. I could just as easily watch tv for the hell of it. Or think about knitting projects, or read something someone else wrote.

Even though I enjoyed most of The Namesake, I was a bit irritated to notice that it was the second book I'd read in which the characters were these smart cosmopolitan people who had attended expensive schools. Before finishing The Namesake, I had attempted to read The Timetraveller's Wife. Hopefully, if I read any more fiction in the future, it will be populated by people who are a little less fancy, say, people who went to Berkeley or something.

Still at the Office

What's keeping me at the office so late in the evening? Is it the air conditioning? Is it the glow of the computer screen? I know. It's the absence of laundry!

Absent from the blog

I've been away. I've been busy. I don't know what to say.

Today I'm ambivalent about personal blogging. I'd much rather talk to people.
